I made this in late September. Most birds were still molting, so he's not in the best shape. However I like the pose of him climbing to the top of the stump.

ISO 1000 (batteries died on flash)

I find a bedragled bird always an interesting subject Great perch and details.

Looks like a favored perch. Wonderful detail and very pleasing bg even without flash.

Very nice exposure and details here Bryan, just a touch more room on top for my tastes if you have it. :toast:

Lovely Downy shot, Bryan. It's so interesting that Nate's suggestion of a bit more room at the top could make a positive difference ....but it does! My only nit with this shot is that I can't see enough of the bird's feet. Especially with woodpeckers, I have a bit of a foot fetish! :toast:

Nice, Bryan. I find myself agreeing with the added room on the top. It looks to me like there are a couple of cloning artifacts at the top of the head-they show up as lighter green areas in the bg right next to the head. :toast:

Bryan,

I prefer the repost for the additional room above the head of the bird. I also like seeing this species while it is molting, I find it interesting. I especially like seeing the one toe grasping the perch.

Hi Dennis, that's a very good catch! It's actually from me darkening the BG a bit. Must of missed a spot. Thanks, I'll fix that right away. :wavey:

Very nice shot, Bryan. Good detail and capture. I prefer the re-post for the reasons Mia described. Interesting to see the easterly race, with te whiter belly; up here the chest and belly are greyer.
