Man builds it, man destroys it and man preserves it.

Most memories of the park are of it's beauty, camping, rafting, hiking, photogrpahy and the ongoing construction.

A reasonable representation of the statement. Is there a back story to go with this?

Hey Phil, I wish I had a back story for you but the construction is just a constant thing in the valley wheter it's the road or any other structures. The weather gives the place a beating.

Strange but interesting to see the machinery in front of those beautiful walls.

The hand of man has been shaping the Yosemite Valley since the days of the Native Americans for ill or good. The re-engineering of Tunnel View is an example of the good. Cutting down many of the closest trees to widen the vista. Over the years fire suppression has changed the valley to the ill, it has allowed brush and conifers to dominate the valley floor cutting of many of the views of the geology. That and the dynamiting of the morraine damn that allowed some flooding every spring and kept the Merced from eroding it's banks. So Steve your image conveys the continuing process of human influence in a natural world, Yosemite however being one of the most extreme beauty.
