Made a quick trip to Bosque Del Apache yesterday to celebrate the new year. This little Loggerhead Shrike was very cooperative. This is about 90% of full frame.

1/640 @ f/8
ISO 200
+2/3 EV
Handheld from a ground level position

Fine perch, nice head turn and great detail in the sunlit portion, Keith. It must have been difficult to avoid blowing out the white part of the beak too. You might consider trying to reduce the darkness of the shadow a bit. Especially, it would be better if we could see the details of the feet. :toast:

Super detail and color in this one Keith. I lover the bird's pose and the great light on the face. Very nice.

I like everything except the contrasty light here.

I love this particular bird. Nice detail and sharpness. He's a bit "rounder" than the ones that live here is Southeast Texas, but maybe he's puffed from the cold. Excellent image.

Keith

I like the loggerhead's pose and the slightly open bill. The eye of this bird shows up great even in the black mask.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the new year.

Such a unique bird and you did very well. I agree with Richard, I like it all, just the light is contrasty.
