Cold Creek

Last week I was up north with my family skiing. Really cold and the temperature was never higher than -15 degrees Celsius for the entire week. No wind though, so it was OK doing both downhill and cross-country skiing. This shot was taken one morning as i followed the trail arround "Kalven", a track about 12 kilometers long. The temp. was -22 so I was a bit afraid that my Nikon would let me down in these conditions. But, it worked perfectly all week. On this shot I used my Nikkor 60mm 2,8.

f/11, 1/80s, 60mm, ISO200 and CPL filter

Wish all of You on NPN a Happy New Year.

Very nicely done, Christer. The sun-lit pines really jump out at me!

Certainly looks like some great conditions for cross-country skiing. A small nit of mine is that I wished you would have used a different aperture to get that foreground tree on the right to be perfectly sharp. Nevertheless, you handled the dynamic range quite well and really captured that crisp winter feeling, so good job.

Beautiful, intimate, winter scene. You handled the contrast well.

I like the framing with the foreground tree and the strong contrast. This might work as monochrome too.

Hi Christer,

Aesthetically speaking - this is one of the most appealing winter images I've seen all year. It puts you right there in the scene. The contrast between the lights and darks, the shapes and lines all come together and flow beautifully. Definitely a winner. Thanks for sharing. Michael

Christer,

You handled the light expertly. A monochrome would be a nice variation.
