The Eye

Just a normal, every day pidgin. Just trying to do something a little different than the usual "portrait" I wasn't sure about the amount of room on the left but I figured I'd keep it full frame and see what everyone thought.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Hey Ed,
Awesome shot! I love the feather detail on the head! I feel that there is a bit more canvas on the left than I'd like, but thats just me. Only other nit (and its minor!) is that I might like to see the eye in sharper focus. Thanks for sharing! I love the unusual comp!

....something a little different than the usual" - very different, and it is really cool, I really don't mind the space on the left, I find it keeps it interesting. The feather detail is incredible. Well done! :toast: :toast:

I like this and the different compostion. I think having the whole orange eye in focus would have been nice, but your detail on the front of the eye and head is superb. I am seeing a halo on the left side of the bird, but I'm not sure what it's from??? Also like the hint of color on the neck. Sharon

The room on the left doesn't bother me. BUT, it looks as though you focused on the forehead instead of the eye.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback
It was kind of an opportunistic shot so I didn't have the DOF that I may have chosen if I'd had the time. It would be perhaps a better shot if the whole eye was in focus.
Not sure about the halo, I was thinking it was from sharpening but it seems to be there in the original... perhaps it's an aura? :jump:

Great shot. Looks like something from a recent animated movie. You must have been close with a wide aperture.
