An overlook just off the trail along Cataract Creek in Marin. I thought this scene captured the essence of the place fairly well, though it's hard to do it justice with a camera.

Canon 5D, 17-40L at 24mm, f/16 for 4.0 seconds (ISO 100). Tiny amount of blending in some shadow areas from another exposure one stop brighter.

What a beautiful little gorge that is, such wonderful greens! I love how the ferns guide me right into the woods, and the mossy rock in the foreground helps connect the foreground to the trees in the back.

My nephew said this is where Shrek lives  I can see why he said that Phil, it's so plush and the red accents go a long way. Would't have guess California, I need some green now thanks to you Phil!

Nice framing of the creek. The ferns provide a nice foundation and the natural arch of the trees over the creek gives it a nice touch. Nice image Phil.

A very lush scene - the flowing water in the bottom left really makes this image stand out.

Seeing all this green makes me - well, green with envy  We've had snow on the ground for well over 3 weeks and haven't been above freezing since around New Years. This photo makes me long (very badly) for spring and green. This is just beautiful! I love all the different textures and colors of green. The ferns are a great FG anchor, and the stream is perfectly placed. Very well done!!

Gorgeous scene, Phil, very well presented! In a crowd of oversaturated images, this really stands out as naturally vibrant. well done. :toast:

Man, that is some lush looking scenery. I would crop that dark mass at the top right.

This feels so good on a cold winter's day. My preference would be for a little less rock at the bottom.

Phil,

Never would have guessed this was Marin or the Cataract trail for that matter. But knowing you're from NorCal should be a good clue. But I could easily think this was captured in the PNW. This is beautiful! The greens are absolutely perfect as is the composition. Great job with this one.
