I work at a zoo and we have a wild resident fox on grounds. Over the winter he has been very photogenic.

Photo taken with Nikon D300
80-400 lens at 260mm hand held
1/320
F/10
ISO 1000
+.3 exposure compensation
slight crop , contrast, sharpness, etc adjustments

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Jackie and welcome to NPN! :wavey: This fox sure looks like a cooperative fellow. Unfortunately your image post is a bit on the small side which makes critiqueing the image more difficult. You can post images upto a size of 720px on the longest side with an additional option to post a 1200px version on top of that. Please refer to the NPN posting guidelines for more clarification and let me know if you still have difficulties posting correctly sized images.
As presented here the image looks a bit soft, but that could be as a result of the small size and lack of image sharpening. Also the image looks a bit on the dark side IMO and would benefit from some brightening.

Finally I am curious as to why you decided to shoot at ISO1000. F/10 would not be really required for this image and IMO opening up would have enabled you to decrease the iso and obtain better IQ and it would have rendered the BG more OOF.

I hope to see lots more image posts and comments from you in this gallery. :wavey:

Thank you for your comments. It is all part of my learning process.

I tried to post at a bigger size (720 px) but the computer would not let me. I will try again when I can get to a better computer.

I shot at ISO 1000 because that was what I was set on when I stumbled upon this guy. I was more worried about getting shots than thinking about the ISO setting.

Like the low angle and the eye contact. Could use just a little sharpening.

What a pretty and cooperative subject! I like the relaxed pose. You might be able to give this a bit more pop by some overall brightness adjustment.

A very nice pose and eye contact to this shot, I would have liked to seen a larger version as this appears to be a wonderful shot.
