It's been a long time since I posted to this forum, but I stumbled across this shot while organizing my portfolio and thought I'd pay a visit!

Canon 5D, 180mm, f3.5, 1/250 sec, iso 100, freehand, natural light.

Treated with a mix of light sharpening , a bit of blur and a smidge of desaturation.

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Hey Jim, i think this was a great find in your portfolio, I love the desaturation and the blur you have applied. I'm not sure about the large bright white area in the upper left, but this still appeals to me very much. Post it larger  :toast: :toast: :toast:

Jim,

I think the brightest whites would normally bother me a little but they seem to work perfectly here. I love the talon like buds and your processing in general. Overall the image has a sort of darkish elves feel to me - something beautiful but maybe poisonous. I like it a lot.

Jim: Really cool and a fine result. I would put this on a white frame though as the URC merging into the frame makes this look strange in that quadrant. Don't be a stranger, especially with stuff this good lurking in your files. >=))>

Very nice image Jim, only the white part is a bit "flat". The black frame (BG) doesn't fit the nice image very well. :toast:

Very striking image, Jim ! Wonderful rendering of the lower parts of the flower, and the upper areas - wow !! If toned down just a touch I guess they might reveal a little more form, but on balance I feel you've got a great contrast with the desaturated colours below.
