Sunbather - Repost at bottom

This was taken on a recent trip to Florida while trying to get away from the cold in the upper midwest.

I liked the spacial contrast between the lone sunbather and the very wide beach. I thought the two people in the upper left were needed to establish scale. Not sure if that's a correct assumption.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

Comments and critiques are appreciated.

Thanks.

I think the two people in the ULC add to the overall impact of the shot. This is a really neat photo. I just could not image someone walking out to the middle of all of that sand just to sunbathe. To take photos yes, but to sunbathe?

Wonderful image Jerry, the diagnol lines in the sand add interest and I love the scale the three people give this image. The shadow up top also helps. Nice use of negative space here.

The more I look at this photo, the more I like it. I like the composition and the three people give a good sense of a large, almost deserted beach.

I have to go against the consensus and say that for me the two people walking are a more of a distraction. I like everything else, especially the textures in the beach and the idea of a sunbather alone in the center of a huge beach (why did he/she pick that spot? why not closer to the ocean?, etc.) There's a story being told that the walkers don't contribute to IMO. Well composed.

Jerry,
This photo makes me smile and that's always a good sign.
I very much like it as is. But having only the single prone bather makes for a very different shot. And this may be just as good. Try it and see.

I like this a lot and I think the 2 people in the ul work great to establish scale. I'm less enamoured of the person lying on a beach towel in the middle. Its not needed for scale and in this case, I like the extreme placement of the 2 in the ul, so I don't think the other person is needed ffor balance. If this were mine I would be tempted to clone that out...

Thanks for the comments everyone. I've added this image without the two walkers in the UL. If I'm allowed another addition I'll clone out the sunbather and post it also. I guess I'll call it beach walkers and see how they compare to each other.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
