It seems that this winter has brought a lot of woodpeckers to the feeders. There were fewer wrens invading boxes this past summer and I think the net was more chickadees and woodpeckers. Maybe a few more bluebirds, but I haven't seen any this winter at the water or feeders.

These guys are like nuthatches for me. Whenever they're around I can't help myself and I have to try to get a few new photos.

Anyone know why this one looks a little bald around the legs?

Comments and critiques are appreciated.

Thanks.

The BG looks like much of what i'm seeing outside right now over here Jerry. I like the pose you caught here.

Wonderful shot Jerry - great detail and I like the way the bird has turned away from the trunk

A super shot Jerry. I love the soft light and the details on the bird and perch. The BG is perfect IMO. Great comp too. I wish this were mine. Well done.

This is really nice of one of my favorite birds. Good compostion including just enough of the perch without overwhelming the bird. My only nit is the white dot in the middle of the eye...it looks unnatural to me. Sharon

I can see why you would be inclined to photograph this bird each time, wonderful framing and detail, well done. No idea on the bald area.
