Morning Robbery

I have been trying out a new work flow in Lightroom 2x and
learning a lot about the develop module and what the sliders actually do. ;-)
After seeing Brad Hamel's Robber fly, I decided to go back and look through my library to see what I could find to apply my newly acquired knowledge.(Thanks Brad!)

Nikon D300 w/105mm Micro Nikkor
1/6sec f/11 ISO 400
Tripod, Mirror Lockup, Plamp to Hold the bug.

Thanks for Looking.

Wonderful detail and very nice depth of field on this insect. "Plamp to hold the bug." It must have been very sluggish.

Pete D. - also feeling a little sluggish....

Joel: Superb image. Like the dewdrops and all the fine details. How different is this image compared with the pre-processed one? I am only just now starting to play with CS4 and have a steep learning curve ahead of me.

Very nice capture, Joel. The detail is very good, and I like the reflection in the larger water droplet. Like Pete, I'm curious about the "Plamp to hold the bug" --- this is either a really huge bug or you have some very small plamps! Some great work, Joel. :toast:

Thanks for the comments everyone. Helps me learn.

In the ooops department, the plamp was used to hold the piece of grass up, not the bug! My bad, it made sense when I wrote it.

Gary, As most raw files look when all settings in Lightroom are zeroed out, this shot was pretty drab. However after setting the color temp, white and black points it came alive, I then brought it into CS3 for some selective saturation adjustments, (See Tony Kuyper's web site), duplicated the image, and closed the original. Then the duplicate was re-sized sharpened for web and I'm done. Takes longer to explain then do.

Hey Joel. Great shot of this robber. My photoshop skills suck but whatever sliders your moving I would keep moving them cuz your result is great. Keep up the good work.

OOooh.. I like!

For whatever reason, I keep shooting these insects but I've never gotten quite the cleaness you have here.

And as I tell people who are just learning digital and/or RAW, DSLR's are designed to maximize the information in contained in the file, not the image itself. You did a minimal amount of work on this which says you nailed the image.

Good work kand thanks for posting! :toast:
