Morning at White Sands

An older image from May 2004 where I got some nice morning light on the gentle slope of a dune. For 90% of the images on that trip, which included Arches, Canyonlands and Bryce, I had mistakenly set my camera to some unknown custom white balance, so I've attempted to recover this as well as many others.

Nice scene with the yuccas and subtle dunes Bill. Could be my monitor but the blues in the sky dont seem quite right to me.

Very beautiful composition. Very simple, quiet and unpretentious. Simple and quiet lines, colors. There is something magical.
I don't understand Timothy's comment about the sky. Timothy, is there a formula about sky's color?
I never heard of one...

I like how your composition isolates the plants in the landscape so well, together with the sand and sun makes me amazed they can live in an environment like that. A couple of suggestions might be to increase the contrast and crop off the top. For me I feel those changes would stress the composition and feeling of isolation all the more. Overall I am really liking this

simple and elegant. one step to the right would have separated the elements lending for an even more elegant composition. love it.

Nice arrangement Bill. The colors look good and go well together. I would be a little tempted to cut the negative space off the left side, making the image more of a square.

Great clarity with just enought blurred sky to make it all stand out. Your custom white balance seems to have given good results. :)
