Curving Ice Edge

Last weeken I attended a meeting with Biofoto at the Getteroen NR. A long drive for me down southwest but it was worth it. Always nice to meet other nature photographers. As being an active member I was showing 18, of my own, photos for critique in the evening and it was really interesting to hear the discussions. I must say I learnt a lot during the evening. In the afternoon we had 3 hours of photographing out in the NR.

This picture is from the edge of the NR, and for the first time in weeks in Sweden, we had descent light.

You have interesting patterns here. I'm curious to see a horizontal version, perhaps by cropping the top and bottom.

Hi Christer,

Certainly not my favorite image of yours, but still very solid and up to your standard high quality processing. I most definitely would come down quite a bit on that sky 1/4 to a 1/3 inch off. I hope this helps. Thanks for sharing. Michael

I agree with Michael, and would crop about 40% of the sky. It also looks like some of the ice was moving, since some parts are blurry. Other than that, It think this is pretty good. Lots of interesting detail and texture.

I like the light Christer and shapes in the icy foreground. I think I agree on a crop of the sky since it accentuates the wonderful form of the ice. Regardless, beautiful work.

Wonderful details. I actually enjoy the "open" feeling I get when viewing this with the expanse of sky above. It's a feeling that I am small compared to the sea and the sky. This is more important to me than conforming to "rules" of composition. (Rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules!)
