Many of you have been-there-done-that. But this was my first time to be at Tunnel View at the golden hour and watch El Cap and half Dome light up. Since this is my first I'm most interested in your opinion.

This is a pretty solid shot, Dan. This isn't the most epic shot of tunnel view I've ever seen, but still technically and aesthetically very well done. I kind of like a crop from the bottom, getting rid of some of the shaded trees. It focuses the scene a little better and puts more emphasis on the great light hitting El Cap.

It's an inspiring view Dan isn't it? Of course, it's hard to compete with all the magical and moody images that come out of a popular and accessible place like this, but we all deserve to experience and document it. Before you know it you'll be here again and again

Hi Dan,

I think your processing looks great. I really like the colors of the green and how you controlled the highlights on El Cap. Overall, it looks like you had some good conditons there. I agree with Aaron that cropping up the FG to exclude the tips of the tree in the dead center will help. Also, I think a slight crop down on the sky is in order too...I hope this helps. Michael

Dan,

You certainly caught this world-class view at a prime time and you did a great job in capturing and handling the exposure. I don't think it matters how many times one stands there in front of this spectacular view, it is always inspiring - I'm glad you were able to witness that great light creep up the face of El Capitan.

The crops are pretty good suggestions as this would make a fine pano image, but this is also a great rendition as captured.

Man, what a difference a couple weeks can make....
