MY Nest!

Actually, this was taken in late September, but the this osprey was still giving me that “go away” look. I stayed back and put on the 1.4x TC to get this shot showing the nest, rather than just the bird. Obviously this was some harsh light, (everyone except photographers just call it Sunny). However, I think this exposure is not too bad after some selective adjustments in post-processing.

Canon 50D
Canon 100-400 + 1.4x TC
f/10 @ 1/2000 sec.; ISO 400
Hand-held from Kayak.

Excellent detail Wayne and nice blue sky too. It looks like he means business though.

Cool image, Wayne. You might dial down the contrast just a bit more, but that may just be me. Wonderful dof to get that whole nest in focus. :toast:

It's wild to see an Osprey nest on something other than a Platform - that's pretty much they only place they can be found down here on the Island. Nice exposure and good lighting on the eyes

This guy really looks like the king of the castle, Wayne. Nice sunny day shot! :toast:

That is a huge nest Wayne and the Osprey does seem to be saying "My nest!".

For me it does look like the image has a bit too much contrast & a slight bit of too much saturation, mostly the sky?

I wonder how many of those sticks skitter to the ground during the building? Good pov of view, showing the nest and the king of the castle up top.
