This is interesting. Not a typical composition, but I like it. It is soothing and has some nice complimentary colors to it. IMO, the unfurling plant is just a tad centered. And the light background plant in ULC is a bit distracting. Maybe a square or vertical crop would address both? Just a thought and I still like it as is.

I'm not sure why exactly, but this image really appeals to me. There are many elements, but the frame isn't crowded; also, the main elements are all green, which sort of connects them. I especially like that 'starry-leaved' plant on the upper left side. I like this!

I hoped you might pick up on the source of the title, Katja. I assumed you're the same Katja Rosvall who's interested in science fiction. Though R.A.Lafferty always was out on the fringes. Not unlike Ray Bradbury I guess. Anyway, I used to read a lot but haven't for a long time now.

I like to think of the white in the upper left as a wisp of a cloud. A little more contrast, or a bluer background up there would make it less airy. I wouldn't want it to compete too much. I see it as balanced by the dark blue sky that bulges a bit from the slit in the stem on the right. It could be a mirror where the wisp of cloud sees itself.
I'm afraid I can't see any crop being an improvement. Especially if you're going to both move the unfolding fern off-center and deal with the ULC. I'd have to see an example.

Hey Charles, I like shooting fern fronds all tightly coiled. Nice invironmental image showing where it lives.
