Frozen path

Hi all,
this is another shot from Gran Sasso National Park, in the Appennines, Central Italy. That was taken two weeks ago, just before a sudden drop in temperatures accompanied by a number of storms, covered all the plain in snow. That day the light was not that much interesting, but I enjoyed the contrast between the dry weeds and the snowy peaks in the background. Your comments and critiques are appreciated.

Warm Regards,

This is a really nice Fransesco and I agree about the color of the grass and snow covered peaks. The fg appears to be in sharp focus; however, the mid and bg appear a little soft (not sure if that's what you intended here), Also, the top of the image appears a little bright to me. Beautiful scene.

Nice color temperatures, Francesco. My only nit would be the little CCW tilt of the image, but otherwise you've got a nice mood going on here.

Rudy: the difference in focus was intended, as I tried to give more depth to the image and didn't want the high peak in the background to prevail. However, the background is also soft in contrast, while the original slide has a bit more strength and doesn't seem to have blown out whites, I admit I have still a lot to learn about scanning slides, it is quite frustrating to see how much gets lost of the original film that I love so much.

Andreas: I didn't notice the tilt but, indeed, it is there (that is my fault) !

Thank you both for commenting

Great contrast of cool and warm tones. I think the limited dof can work and here it is pretty successful. I think it helps when there is more foreground interest for the viewer.

Paul, I agree about the foreground, I thought the frozen strip could suffice, but I should have been more careful in finding a stronger object to add, like a stone, that could have balanced the high peak in the distance (actually, "Gran Sasso" means "Great Stone").

Thanks and regards.
