Nice idea Bill, this give me the oppurtunity to post things I normally wouldn't.
While kayaking this lake, it's swampy shoreline was covered with this bright red brush. Ideally I would have liked to get both the reflection and the lily pads in focus but I had a number of thing going against me. First I don't know if it would be possible without stacking photos. Second is when I go kayaking I use my old camera (HP 850) in case it gets wet plus it gives me more flexability without changeing lenses. And third, because my old camera has about a four second shutter lag it's pretty tough to get a focused shot from a kayak. Enough excuses from me though  I'm curious what everyone thinks about this shot and if it works OK with the lily pads as an out of focus element for the eye to concentrate on the reflection itself?
Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.

Well, that's just outstanding. I really like the colors and your dof. Very well done.

John: Most excellent! While the pads are OOF they are clearly lily pads and complement the sharp reflections really well. This is really well seen. Terrific. >=))>

I think it works very well with the lily pads OOF. You can still tell what they are and their color goes very nicely with the red leaves.

I really like this. A balance of complimentary colors. But what I really like is that moment of cognitive dissonance (if that's the technically correct term) as the brain tries to make sense of what it's seeing. With harsher colors that would be a less pleasant transition.

I'd rate this as definitely unconventional-- in a good way. It's thought-provoking; it makes me look and wonder. There's an interesting effect of the lily pads for me in that they look like they're floating in... nothing, especially along the top edge. What about making a panorama out of the top 1/3 of the image? Very
