Deadly Sawgrass (Theme)

Thought I'd post this on Theme Week.

Sawgrass, they say if you get lost in the Glades and the mosquitoes don't kill you, the sawgrass will.
For those who haven't seen sawgrass, it's said to be 3 sided, but actually the blade has a vertical crease running the length of it, and on both edges plus the crease edge, razor sharp barbs point upward. These barbs will slash anything to ribbons, other than maybe a suit of steel armour. But then mosquitoes would get inside that.

Actual size of this blade I grabbed in the Glades this morning is about 1/4 inch wide.

D700 105 micro plus 3 stacked extension tubes f/11 1/60 Flash.

Just excellent work Wayne. Great subject, fine presentation and as far as I can tell a perfect stack. I like this one a lot.

Great detail capturing the saw tooth edge. I am heading to south Florida in April, and I take it that it would be a bad idea to run through the everglades naked. Any sites you would suggest ?( I know there are a ton!)

Jaime, don't know if you're interested in shooting birds or landscapes in April. But if birds, they mostly move up to Central Florida by then. There are a lot of places as you say, a few are; Venice Rookery, Ding Darling, (you need big glass for both), Wakodahatchee Wetlands at Delray Beach, Gatorland in Orlando, and on up the line.

Excellent macro work. Quite a story and image. Remind me not to get caught out there in shorts.
