I've not been able to do much lately in the avian category, so thought I'd post an older image. Shot last February with the guidance of Mia and Adrian Burke at Fort Desoto park at the mouth of Tampa Bay. I'm headed back over there in a few weeks and really looking forward to capturing more of these beautiful birds.

Olympus E-3, ZD 300 2.8 +EC20, Wimberley I, 1/400 f6.3 early morning light

Wow, gorgeous !
Perfect light for this guy to make him just glow - plus a great pose, reflection, and suble waves.

Beautiful lighting and reflection shot here Bill, I'd take just a hair off the bottom to make it symettrical with the top. :toast:

Bill,

This image made me smile remembering you out in the lagoon with this reddish, focused on the bird in the sweet light. You were so excited about it I swear you were bubbling over with joy.

I like the stalking pose that you caught, the beautiful light and the ripples in the water.

I hope that your trip in March is as fruitful every day for you as the morning you spent with Adrian and I.

Great shot Bill, very sharp and the light is gorgeous. I agrre with Cindy that a bit off the bottom would make this better IMO. I'm getting all geared up to head down south to Sanibel myself, and hope to get some as nice as this.

Great shot Bill. I like the light and the bird a lot. I would make this a pano by taking some off the bottom if this were mine.

Bill:
I like it a lot and agree with the suggestions for a crop removing some of the space at the bottom. :toast:

Nice composition and detail on the larger image, well done. I would also be inclined to crop a little off the bottom.

Thanks for the comments, gang. I actually had intended to crop from the bottom, but left it full frame. When I print a big version, I'll probably go with an 11x14 with a 1/2 inch white border. When I frame these, I prefer a simple white border and narrow document frame, and I thought it worked pretty well with a moderate crop from bottom and a very slight crop from the left side. Thanks again!
