"Orbiting" the Moon
by Kumar Patel
Photograph taken on December 13, 2008 in Palisades park, New Jersey.
This was quite an experience. I was photographing the full moon. After taking a few shots, I was no longer looking through the lens. At that moment I saw some shadows move accross the moon. A quick look with my binoculars showed a row of geese just going off the right edge of the moon. Once they left the edge you could not see them since the surrounding was black. In milliseconds they had disappeared. No chance for a picture! This is the kind of fishing story that nobody will believe!
I quickly increased the ISO and kept looking through the lens, hoping for a miracle. The picture you see here shows that miracles do occur!
Fujifilm S2Pro, Nikon 200-400mm with 2X teleconverter, f/20.0, 1/800,
Exp. Comp. -2.67, ISO 3600 (Settings quick, blind and accidental).

Funny thing, I have a full moon shot of a helo flying in front of it (you can see the exhaust distort part of the moon even). Reminds me of your story. Random chance is like that...
