Emerald Wave

Taken at sunset last May during the beginning of monsoon season. This is the south west side of the island Koh Wai, Trat, Thailand in the Koh Chang National Park. This is a great, mostly unoccupied island if you enjoy walking through the jungle (no motorized vehicles). It takes maybe 20 minutes of fairly easy hiking to get to this side of the island from the nearest bungalows (about 45 minutes from where we stayed however). After sunset, bring a flashlight, because you'll be feeling your way back, and it's a bit sketchy in places. It's a gorgeous and secluded location, my images do it little justice. Thanks for looking.

1ds3, 16-35, 3 image manual blend.

Very interesting water-capture Nicolaus. I like how the the wave creates that diagonal that connects the fg with the bg.The sky works nicely to complement the scene.

I like the motion in the water and wave along with the shoreline receding towards the horizon. The reflection coming off the water is a teeny bit strong for my tastes (polarizer may have helped reduce the glare), but not a big issue. I love how the clouds work so well off the forms and patterns in the foreground.

I like the foreground water action but would think about cropping some of the sky, perhaps 30% or so. I believe this would strengthen the impact the foreground has, which imo is the focal point of the image.

looks sweet. maybe a small crop from the top can improve it more, but not sure. good as is - the tiny snails in the fg are really neat.

The light throughout is splendid Nicolaus especially the golden light on the waves. I also like the perspective.

I like the composition in this one. How you used the the waves as a diagonal line leading the eyes to the background. The water is action is great. Beautiful sky. Great work

I really like the light and detail in this. Almost HDR like but not quite.

I dig it from top to bottom. Nice vision... If I had to make a critique I would say that perhaps the rocks at closest right in the midground are a little bright compared to the distant cliffs. Thats pretty damn picky though...

Thank you for the comments and critiques. I agree that a polarizer would have probably been a good idea on this one. As for the crop, I'm not so sure. I like the cloud in the middle acting as a counterpoint of sorts in relation to the rocks and waves in the foreground. Cropping might cramp it too much. I may have dodged the rocks on the right (below the waves) a bit too much though...

Thank you for the input!

Churning water, churning sky. Certainly a very active seascape with some great light.

The fg waves, as smoothed as they are lend a sense of power to the image.

Lovely patterns in the FG waves. Love the way they are rushing against each other from either sides.
