There is a weir on the Bow River in Calgary where these guys come to fish every summer.
Canon 5D, EF 100-400 1:4.5-5.6 L IS, 1/800, f10, ISO 500 at 400.0mm. EV -2/3
The image is cropped to about 80% on the right and bottom.

I have taken this shot many times and never had such a great image. Someone will have an issue with the loss of the feather but the strenght of the comp and the action is all I need!

Dan, welcome to NPN. I love the action here. The missing wingtip is unfortunate, but like you say the action and pose really are nice. Some of the whites look a bit bright, but overall your exposure, under very bright conditions, worked out farily well. If it is ok, I would suggest posting all of your photo techs with your images. It makes giving a useful critique possible. For example, I do not know if this is Full Frame or a cropped image. If it is cropped, I would suggest giving the bird more room all around except the bottom. Again, welcome to NPN. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome Dan, really nice landing pose, it sounds like you don't have any more room on the left or top in the original. Zooming out a bit you probably would have managed to get the wing tips in. I'm looking forward to seeing momre of your work. :toast:
