Twisting Flowered Vine

Taken next to a field in NE Kansas last fall. There were numerous flowered vines 8-10 feet in length and could hardly stand. They did not have the normal look and feel of the sunflower's stalk. Perhaps someone can ID this item. May not be a vine but the stalks sure remind me of a vine.

You got me--maybe one of the flora experts will help out--looks like a cross between a grapevine and a sunflower! Nice layout and colors.

Love the bright colors in the flowers and stems against the soft blue sky.
