Very nice catch!
Nice bird, pose, and branch.
The bird seems a bit soft, but your F8 should have been sharp, so not sure what happened..
Your lens at the longest length+ the high ISO might be the problem.

Thanks for your comments Sandy. Yes, it may be a little soft because of my shutter speed. The lens I'm using is a Tokina 400mm 5.6 Prime lens so I had no choice as to focal length. It was also an overcast day and the branch was shaded. I would have tried flash but my flash is at Sigma getting a firmware update.

Nice shot overall, with the head turn. Softness was already mentioned.

I really like the look back you got from the siskin Clayton. The background also appeals to me - clean except for the OOF greenery at lower left. I also like your comp. The afore mentioned softness is my only nit.

I like the singing pose. The slight softness may be partially motion blur from the relatively slow shutter speed. :toast:

Very fine looking bird and photo. As mentioned a little OOF but I really like the perch, the pine needles and the BG. Color looks a little cool. If it was mine I would warm it up a little.

Clayton,

I like the background and how nicely the bird is separated from it, I also like the singong pose with the head turn.

The softness has been noted and it was most likely from the slow shutter speed. The image also seems a tiny bit dark to me, I might try to lighten it slightly if this were mine, but not much as some noise might creep in.

I especially like how the branch moves through the frame.
