Nice one Jim - like the peek-a-boo feel of this and the contrast between the blue of the bird and the greens of the leaves

cheers

Another good one Jim.
I do believe you have us all wanting to go to Panama.

I enjoy this image very much Jim. The BIH aspects are excellent, DOF, exposure on the darks/reds and composition are great, and I really like the way the irridescence shows up so well. One of your very best IMO.

What makes this more than just a photo of a Gallinule is the habitat inclusion and the pose of the bird which almost mimics the vegetation, wonderful presentation.

Love this, Jim! It's exactly how I imagined I would find them - reminds me of the Purple Swamphens from South-east Asia.

Jim:
It's an outstanding shot. The low angle, habitat, nice curve of the birds body and neck, and the excellent exposure of the blues are all just terrific.

Very nice intimate shot. I was pondering the placement of the Gallinule, since it is somewhat centered. And the body is facing right, while the head is turned left. My conclusion is that it is fine as posted, but another possible crop would be to take about 10-15% off the right and top. This is just personal preference of course and I love it just the way it is.

Jim,

This is one of your best images, I have nothing to suggest for improvement. I know from experience that settings like this can be very challenging, highlights in the background can easily be blown and so can the shield of this species, but this looks great. Gorgeous colors & details in the plumage of the bird.

Would love to have this image in my files.

Great idea to add the weather conditions! I'll start doing that too. Good sense of place is established by this image and the partially hidden bird is intriguing. Nice!
