A Shy Willet
by Bill Leggett
I went to Ocean Springs last weekend, and there were a fair number of Willets browsing along the low tide shoreline. This one came in a bit too close for the glass I had. Shot at around 7am in direct morning sun.

5 commentsI love the cool blues in the water and how well they compliment the warm tones of the willet in this image. I love the one foot being raised and the water droplets by that foot, the sweet light and the comp you used. I might have removed a sliver more at the bottom to remove the underside of the bird and just left the reflection of the legs myself, but that is just my personal preference.
Hope you get plenty of shorebird shots on your upcoming trip! You might want to email Adrian and see if he can join you for a morning?
What the others have already stated: wonderful light, beautiful blue water with texture added by the ripples, and the posture with the lifted foot.
beautiful image! I really like the light, the pose and the blue water too.
