Hi Robert: I was out shooting hibiscus a few days ago and made an almost identical image. I like how the stamen and pollen are just sticking out. Would have like the base of the flower in focus as well. Nice as is it though.

Hi Bob. Nice color combo and I like the diagonal positioning of the flower. Nice detail and focus of the stamen. A lot of possibilities here as far as the DOF and I think you made a good choice. If you made the petals more in focus the leaves in the BG would also be more obvious and distracting. Nice job.

Bob: I think you made a pretty good POF/DOF choice here and agree with John that more DOF would probably have messed up the BG. Just an aside, this stage of the bloom is after it has bloomed and flowered. The flowers are typically open for one day only and then close back down to this stage the next day and then fall off the day after that. This is in really good shape for this phase. Excellent exposure and colors. >=))>

A unique view of a hibiscus for me. Well seen and captured.

Great title, Robert !! Have never seen an hibiscus rolled up like this; you've captured it superbly - sharp at the stamen end, and just a touch soft at the base of the petals.

An interesting presentation Robert. Makes me think of a pennant. I like the image.

Looks like a very chilled giant moth all folded up. I've never seen a Hibiscus like this and so I appreciated Bill sharing his knowledge of the flower. Interesting. I like the dof you chose for reasons already given. Nice one, Robert!
