White-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia leucophrys)

Place: Gilbert Water Ranch, AZ, USA
Date: December 23, 2006
Equipment: Nikon D200, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (2x), tripod
Exposure: ISO 200, Aperture priority matrix metered, 1/200th @ f/9
Raw, PSCS2 on Mac G4, minor crop

"Cold" is a relative concept, so even here in warm AZ a wintering white-crown can find it chilly and need to fluff up to stay warm. Note: previously posted on 01/25/07 in Avian.

Honest critiques requested; all comments appreciated.

Nice capture, Richard. I like the warm light. Sometimes I wish I could just fluff up and stay warm that easily

The soft warm light really enhances the fluffed up cozy feel of the image. Nice capture!
