A Day For Myself

A day off work, my wife shopping and the kids at grandma's. So I loaded my kayak into the truck and headed to one of the area's best kept secrets. The lakes here in Michigan are still covered with ice but the rivers are open. When I kayak I use my old camera- HP 850- so my options were limited with the exposure or filters, along with a very slow shutter lag.
1/483 sec, F 8, ISO 100, hand held and adjusted whites in levels.
Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.

Looks like a great day John, and a nice shot to show that. Like your kayak.

Cindy: This is the Flint River just as it's flowing into Mott Lake. I put in about two hours up stream and turned back at this point here. I would have liked to keep going until I hit ice in Mott Lake but because my way back to my truck was all against the current I thought I better use my energy wisely.
I call it one of the area's best kept secrets because I've lived in this general area my whole life and have traveled the roads and crossed these bridges around here for twenty five years, yet as soon as you enter the river and go aound the first bend I find it hard to believe I'm still in Mid-Michigan. So few people realize the great natural resources they have just outside their front door.

I would label this contradiction, would expect to see a sled rather than a kayak. Real sign of spring.

Very nice John. I know, having come from the mid-west, how few enjoy the resources. But, then if they did would it still look natural?
