Here is a bird that I have been trying to find for a few months now. If only I knew that there are literally 100s of these beauties 30 minutes from my house. Well here is my first attempt. I will be targeting them again this coming weekend. They are so photogenic.
Shooting Mode Shutter-Priority AE
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/1600
Av( Aperture Value ) 6.3
Metering Mode Spot Metering
Exposure Compensation +2/3
ISO Speed 125
Auto ISO Speed ON
Lens EF500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x
Focal Length 700.0mm

Thank you for looking.

Neal,
I think these birds are so photogenic too. I really like the red eye and the water color.
If this were mine, I'd add a little more room around the bird and decreasing the exposure a bit to eliminate the white hot spots on the neck and wing. Overall a nice capture!

Neal, I think with a small exposure adjustment you have a winner. Great job :toast:

Very interesting coloration on this bird. I like the pose and the nice blue water BG. You have a few hot spots as has already been mentioned.

Thank you for your comments. I will work on the hotspots and post a hopefully cleaner shot. I will keep the exposure compensation down on the white birds in future.
