Late winter

Hi everyone,
winter hasn't been much snowy this year here in the plain at the feet of the Alps, but it looks like we're reaching the annual average right now on March. It is snowing while I'm writing, and about 12 inches of fresh snow fell in a few hours yesterday afternoon on the fields around home. Although I was just back from a trip to France, I just couldn't resist to get out for a few shots.

Your c&c are as always highly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.

Thats a high key beauty Paolo. Very nice. Just for the record has it been converted to mono or is this just how it appeared anyway in colour.

Thanks Ian, I'm glad you like it. The second one you said...
Fog and grey overcast sky made the scene almost colourless, except for a very very light blue colour cast that didn't like at all. So turning this to mono was an easy choice.

Thanks Didl, I'm glad you like it. Well, I did a lot of architectures and cityscapes this winter, but very little natural landscapes, so that's why I didn't posted to ESS for a long while. But I'm planning a number of trips to very interesting locations for the upcoming months, so hopefully I will cover the gap soon...
Thanks everyone else for your comments, I appreciate that,

Paolo

Very nice; the monochromatic conversion works very well. I like the snow deposited on the trunk by the wind.

We are looking forward at seeing your new images.

Really evoking. This reminds me of a lone soldier standing on the field of battle preparing to be overwhelmed by the approaching army. Love the contrast and wind blasted snow on trunk.

This is a photo?

I like it, but it does not look like a photo (a sketch or something).

The high key processing is wonderful Paolo; the stark contrasts are eye-catching. The differents tress sizes also add alot. Great shot

Thanks all again for your comments, fellows, I highly value your opinions.
Mark, you're right, this looks like a drawing indeed. Nontheless, it is fully photographic. This is a kind of look that I like very much with scenes like these, with snow on the ground, mist in the middle and grey overcast sky above. Just the perfect conditions for highly graphical and minimalist photos such as this one, with the high key look simply obtained by pushing the highlights almost to the limit of pure white. I took many pictures like this one in the past years, and I attach here one of them just for reference.
