American Tree Sparrow in the very last of the afternoon light. This is a horizontal crop of a vertical, so I don't have anymore room on the tail side.

Sharon, this is really nice. I love the perch, the bird's pose, and the brilliant BG. The head on this sparrow looks nice and sharp. The nearest spot on the wing looks a bit soft, but not bad at all. Might have been some movement and at 1/160th it only takes a little bit. Really not an issue on a really nice image.

Very nice detailed closeup of this sparrow. I like the pose, the perch and the colors are very nice. What was in the BG to give you that pink color?

Robert- the bg is a bank of forsythia that has gotten a little out of control at the back of our property. Depending on the light, it sometimes shows as this pinkish brown and other times a more natural brown color. I did try to play with the bg a little because I think Gary G said he didn't care for the pinkish color in another photo of mine, but in the end I left it as I shot it, since it compliments the bird so nicely. The only thing I did to this photo is the crop, removed some noise from the perch and used the s/h tool on the perch, and sharpened the bird.

Beautiful complimentary colours here Sharon. I would use a touch more usm on the head, and adding a bit more canvas on the right should be no problem. I would just clone some in from all that lovely space in front

Your soft blurred BG in your photo's continue to amaze me. The lighting looks great along with the fine detail. The comp looks good as well, maybe a little tight by the tail as you somewhat pointed out but takes nothing away from the photo for me.

Personally I really like the background color as it goes very well with both sparrow and perch colors Sharon. I like the pose and your composition. Agree about a bit more USM if the bird can take it without oversharpening and I'd add small bit of room to the right - should be very easy.

The colour combination is wonderful Sharon. With a uniform background it wouldn't be difficult to add a fraction more the the RHS if you wanted.
cheers

Nice perch, bg and pose here. Too bad the sparrow didn't turn a bit more to catch more of that late afternoon light.

This is lovely and, as suggested, another round or two of USM would help immensely.

Love the background color Sharon and the pose of the sparrow. I also like the light in the bird's eye, it appears I can see the sky in it.

Lovely complementary color palette and a sweet pose. I agree with Nick and Ron that some selective USM on the head would improve a very nice shot.

Excellent pose, perch and background. I'd be tempted to sharpen this a image a bit more.
