House Finch

Took some time this afternoon to hang out with the birds. This little House finch was really going after the seed on the feeders.

Nikon D300 w/500mm f/4
1/500sec. f/8.0 ISO 400
sb-600 TTL -1.7
Tripod, Kirk King Cobra Action Head.

Cloned out a small oof stick in the ULHC. And removed the 2nd Catch light caused by the flash. Full frame, not cropped.

Thanks for Looking. :wavey:

Joel: This is a very nice capture of a common bird. I like the diagonal formed by the perch, the soft variable background. It all works together very well. I'd crop just a bit off the top. Very nice.

This is really nice, Joel. I love the complementary tones throughout the image. very sharp, nice perch, and your flash looks good. I think I'd play with cropping to move the bird a little off center.

Totally agree with Keith's assessment. Not the most flamboyant bird, but a solid, clear photo of the species. Nice job.

Nicely done Joel. I'd crop in a bit closer if this were mine, but the BG , perch and bird work great :toast:
