From White Sands NM last week, amazing how these yuccas and other plants survive in the sand; growing fast enough (usually) to keep from being suffocated.

Stan, it's not a porcupine, it's only a representation of one.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. The shot is great, and the texture sublime. The shadows even appear to be the wake of this yucca which has a sense of motion to it.

Nice! Love the texture and low angled light. I'd like to see a large version of this.

Fantastic textures and lines Stan....... Beautiful contrasts in a harsh environment. Never been here, but your image really makes me want to get here to explore. Beautiful light and shadows, which is what photography is all about....... right?

Beautifully done, Stan. The textures in this scene are fascinating as well as the interplay of light and shadow.

Nice, Stan. I'm wondering about a vignette around the edges. The edges seep pretty abrupt.

I think the lines, texture, light and comp are really interesting in this shot, Stan. I also think it is very well done.

Beautiful patterns! A very striking image. At first I thought I wanted the yucca a little more off-centered, but the more I look the more I think it works well as is. The ripples in the sand are so graphic they hold all that space and if you moved the yucca left, you would have too much dark space...so great composition!

I've seen lots of these types of compos before, but this is a pretty original take. Almost abstract-like. I like it.

I love this one, Stan. The light, shadows, and textures are wonderful. Tony's vignette idea has some merit, I think.

No nits from me. Great composition and processing. I like the slightly blue tone the image has, but also an obvious candidate for B&W
