Bald Eagle

I watched this eagle fly by me and then land in this tree. I got as close as I thought I might without spooking him and set up my tripod. He watched me carefully, but allowed me about 5 minutes worth of photos before taking off.
50D, 500mm, Iso 200, F5, 1/1250 LARGER version posted, too.

Nice sharp shot Sharon, I'm surprised with the sunshine that you were able to have the dark colors of the bird look this good without the white head being blown out, but I can see good detail in it. Nice blue sky too.

Very nice Sharon. You managed to find an eagle without branches over its face. Enough habitat to be interesting but not enough to distract.

I like your comp here Sharon. The nice trees on the left and the sky on the right works well for me. Nice exposure on the bird and the bird is nice and sharp. Well done.

Great shot. I like the pose of the eagle, and the way the larger branches frame him. Something about the comp, with the empty space on the right and branches on the left, pleases me.

I really like the inclusion of the dead branches, just provides some realism, scale, interest, etc. I like the composition very much as well, different. Finally, have to mention the excellent quality of the lighting. :toast:

What a fortunate encounter Sharon. A well controlled exposure with good detail in the feathers and in that beautiful white head. Are we to be treated to the launch shot next?
