Here is another Bird in Flight photo of a female mountain bluebird. Same bird I just posted. Thanks for all the nice comments on Mtn bluebird One, they meant a lot to me.
Backyard blind, approaching a setup perch.

another spectacular shot, Dan. The way you've frozen the motion and gotten such detail and sharpness is incredible. the colors are fantastic too. these shots have been a real treat to see. I'm assuming you were prefocused on the perch? :toast: :toast:

Who says the male's are more spectacular? Love the light on the wing spread and tail. The complementary backgrould color is especially nice.

Stunning Dan - I like this one even more than the previous one. I think it's a fraction sharper? but I also like the wing position and the interest added to the background with the oof flowers?

cheers

Absolutely awesome!!! The small version is incredible, so I don't know what word to use for the large version. I spent an hour or so trying to stalk these beauties last fall and came away with one decent shot. Your blind is obviously a much more successful technique. Congrats! :jump:

Brian, I pre-focused near the perch, waited a lot for her to come back, and used a machine gun technique when she approached. Bluebirds tend to hover when hunting insects, and it helps a lot to get a flight shot when they hover for a second or two. I got a lot of photos that were blurred, or had a wing cut off, an unattractive pose, or the eye not visible. But a few shots came out.
I am afraid this is a little over-saturated, but with the blue and orange I could not resist the deep colors.
Thanks everyone for the comments.
