Golden Larch

Not even thinking of the potential colour change, I found myself on a hike to Chester Lake in Kananaskis country last November. The weather was perfect and ice hadn't even started to form on the lake. I got to the lake early enough to watch the sun come from behind the mountains in the background and fall directly on the golden larch trees. Thanks for stopping in to take a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

Beautiful photograph. The pure graphic colors are brilliant in this image. You have a wonderful, simple blue, green yellow combination with nice balance between the colors.

This is a wonderful image. I love the comp and how the light falls directly on the trees. Great color contrast. Well done

Great shot. I love the semi-abstract nature of the scene. This really makes me want to be there!

Ia also agree on the excellent combination of warm colors from the yellow trees and the cool blue background. But it was actually the intense green water what attracted me on a first glance in the gallery. Even more, it must have been difficult to find the right balance for exposing the sunlit trees and the mountains in the shadow. Great work!

Thanks for the comments all. I was very fortunate to be there at the right time and was only hoping that I might be able to capture some of the beauty that I saw with my own eyes. It really was something to be standing right there and watch that sunlight wash across the edge of the mountain and onto the larch trees. This is one of my all time favorite images.

Excellent. The tight comp really makes each element a strong focus for the eye in the image. The textures and color in the background are fantastic and a perfect contrast for the water and trees.

The color of that water is awesome. The yellow trees really compliment that as well. You've got some great things going here.

Spectacular contrast you got here Mark, this is great. Minor nit and personal taste, would like to have some detail on darker areas of the trees, but not sure about "real" tones here though, at the moment seeing the image on a non calibrated monitor.
