Rainy day Lily

by Craig Strand

It rained for most of yesterday, here in the Pacific Northwest. I decided to get more familiar with a new macro lens so I purchased this Asiatic Lily from the local florist and went to work. I was pleased with most of the images especially considering I shot under fluorescent lighting and for most, no flash. I usually shoot birds but I like this...the subject doesn't fly away!

Larger image available, thanks for viewing.

canon 100mm f2.8L macro

tripod, ball head, cable release
1 cooperative Lily

Nice clarity and dof on this flower portrait Craig. My only thought is that I would give it a little more room in the frame and/or possibly made it a vertical. :toast:

Good looking image Craig and the I particularly like the lighting. I might give it a touch more room at the bottom and I'd probably clone or darken out the pod behind the topmost petal.

I agree with you. It's nice having something hold still long enough to compose a shot.

I like it Craig. Beautiful color. I agree about a little room on the bottom.

Hi Craig :wavey: Beautifully seen and crafted. Except like the others said. A wee more room at the bottom. I agree that shooting birds is much more challenging

Craig:
Nicely captured! I find capturing birds very challenging but flora has its nuances.
