Vermillion's Shore

Taken at the Vermillion Lakes in Banff. I waited after sunrise for the foreground layers to get sidelight, photographed with a telephoto lens to compress the scene.

Canon 7D, Canon 70-300mm, 105mm, ISO 100, f/11, 1/10 sec.

I like the layers here Justin. A little more space above the mountain would have been nice, but this is a nice shot none the less. Was this taken this morning? I was there early this morning but moved on when the sunrise failed to impress. I slept in my Xtrail there last night!

Good layers, where I'm particularly attracted to the reds. It seems like it's maybe a touch bright or overexposed for the early morning light you describe, and some deeper shadows would be nice.

The colors in the FG are fantastic - just beautiful.

Really nice layering of the elements. The multitudes of color and the distance between foreground and background make this a great image.

I really like this one.

The compression and layers really make this one nice.
I also like how the colors are not over saturated.

This is beautiful, Justin. I like the illuminated foreground scene with the red and green color. The background looks just a tad cool, but it is no big deal.

Wonderful layers of color Justin! The foreground looks like it could take a little more contrast/blacks, and I would either prefer the mountains completely cut off, or more space at the top of 'em. Delightful scene nevertheless.

This is one helluva pretty scene, Justin. I agree with Floris about the top, but this still works nicely as is.

Works great as it is or with the white tops of the mountains cropped.

Gorgeous scene, Justin! Id back off the blue saturation a bit, and i agree with Floris about the top, but those are minor nits. Nice shot!

I can see the suggestions already mentioned, but man what a shot! Love the layers and colors.

Thanks for all the great feedback! Here is an edited version with suggestions: cropped the top, toned down the blues a bit, and added contrast to the foreground. Thoughts? Thanks everyone!

Super colors and detail. I agree to either crop the top some or add some canvas above the mountains. Still and excellent photo!

Beautiful light, color, and layers Justin. the repost with the edits is outstanding as it focuses the viewers attention on the superb light and color of the trees and the brush. Really nice.
