Juvenile BCNH

Been away awhile with vacation and new pc. Hopefully will be able to get back into the swing of things.
Caught this juvi BCNH at Ding Darling on an evening drive through the refuge. It was really calm with my presence, but when an Osprey landed in a tree right above it, it became very alert but didn't fly off. This was just before the Osprey had landed. I didn't process this too much, as I've switched to a 64 bit system and am having compatability issues still.

D300 w/Nikon 200-400 + 1.4 tc @ 625mm
f/5.6
1/100
iso 500
Full Frame

C&C are always welcomed and appreciated.

Nice little fellow!
Good colors and detail, and a nice habitat. Love the bright eye and legs.
good luck with the PC - computers and I are definitely not friends.

Doug this is really, really nice! The only thing I would do is maybe clone out the brown spots on the leaves just to the left of him. Lovely composition!

Great shot Doug. I like your choice of aperature to leave the leaves somewhat in focus. It realy adds to the image.

Really nice. The black shadows really help bring more attention to the bird. Great all around.

Its all about the eye for me in this shot Doug. Really a nice comp, light, and exposure. The sharpness and details are really good with good DOF. Well done.

Doug,

I like the pose of the young heron, the naturalness of the setting as well as the eye contact you caught with the nice head angle. I especially like the one-legged stance.
