Taking a break from Patagonia images as I am in Moab scouting for an upcoming Creative Visions Nature Photo Workshop. This was made in a rarely visited red rock canyon in the wilderness near Moab, Utah. Check out my Photoblog to read the story behind the image.

There's still time to sign up for my NPN online class Creating Wow! Images - Six Steps to Making Great Nature Photographs! We're still accepting "late registrations" so sign up now!

Very creative picture Ian, the composition is really unusual and though-provoking. The light is wonderful and so are the colours. I love it

PS there is still room for a "drink Coca-Cola" line in your post, if you wish... - sorry, but I couldn't resist!

Ian,
What unique and creative image! The lines of the image just keep my eye glued to it and bouncing around all the while enjoying the glowing red wall. Great image, your persistence certainly did pay off!

So real sweet light and color in the center Ian. I like how the twin falls frames the image. Spectacular find!

The comp and light are fantastic! Great angles, framing, depth...all good. My personal preference would be for a more neutral water color--i think it would look more natural to my eye--but i can understand the blue-orange/red combo is more appealing.

I think the dark shadows work really well here to give the feeling of being deep in a canyon. Really nice presentation.

Great story in your blog about your efforts to get this shot. Sometimes a llama must suffer for his art. I think this is another extension of your vision, and it is just superb!

What an eye to see this, Ian. I have a feeling it probably took a bit of development too. Looks great.

Sometimes beautiful places just aren't meant to cooperate with photographers. You're persistence here yielded an image that is at least unique and engaging. In the end, there's still something missing for me. Perhaps if I could get a little more of the feeling of looking out, see a little bit more of the water leaving around the bend, or see less of the contrasty area at the top I could get more out of this. Actually, I do like a significant crop from the top.
