The Least Bell's Vireo is the endangered California subspecies of the Bell's Vireo. We were lucky to find this one singing in a small stream fed canyon this past weekend.

wow, Charlie, this is great. I love the way the bg colors complement the bird. nice singing pose and detail too, and great job finding him out in the open--every time I see a BEVI it is deep in a thicket.

Charlie, this is sweet! Love the colors, understated yes, but still really nice. The sharpness on the bird, the nice perch, and great BG all add up to a simple but powerful comp. Well done on the rarity too.

Great job capturing this rarity, Charlie. Very nice light. I like the partially opened bill and that nice pose. Beautiful background that compliments the Vireo really well. Great image.
I am with Nick, I am ready to see any Vireo. They should be here pretty soon.

This is a wonderful find, Charlie - thanks to Kirsten, too. I love this image - pity I wasn't there that late afternoon.

How strange to actually [i]see[]i] this bird in plain view. BEVI's are common here in many locations, and their "which way to Wichita" rapid song rings throughout at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. But they seldom show themselves, and never on an open branch like this!
