La Jolla, California

Had a chance to shoot a sunset in between volleyball tournaments. This one was taken the evening before leaving on a 4 day Easter trip to Atlanta for a Junior Olympic Qualifying tournament.

Not a great title, but it was a unique sky indeed.

A fantastic sky Jimmy. The 50:50 split horizon is perfact for this scene as the spoked wheel effect of the sky would have not been evident any other way.

Cornrows! That is a really unique sky. The patterns in the fg are pretty cool - I think I see one of those "body chalk" outlines near the lrc.

Great composition and color tone Jimmy. The texture in the mud (or sand) works nicely together with the clouds above. Very nice shot. :toast:

Jimmy, wonderful color and cloud formations. I love the meanering lines in the sand and the way they interact with the reflections of the clouds. Very nice.

Beautiful!! You sure do get to "milk" this spot for all it's worth. It's good to live close to such a good spot. I was going to gripe about the 50/50 comp, but see it was necessary to display the great cloud patterns. Very nice!

Very cool Jimmy. Normally I don't like the 50/50 split, but here it works very well.

What a wonderful effect has been created by your composition, which uses both the cloud formation and the patterns on the beach to its advantage. Great stuff, Jimmy.

Thanks for the comments. To answer a couple of questions, I really like the Zeiss lens. It is one of the older versions that needs a special adapter for the Canon mount. The new ones do not need the adapter. I shot this image on March 31st. And, yes, I seem to milk this area over and over. When the tide is high and there are good clouds in the sky for sunset, I head to this spot. If the tide is a bit lower than a plus 3, then I can go hit other areas that have some neat exposed foreground rocks. I try to stay away from the 50/50 split, but this one was inevitable and, actually, I wasn't even thinking about it... just trying to go with the flow and get the clouds above and their reflections to work together.
