Snowy Egret

Shot this Snowy Egret at the La Jolla cliffs on velvia 50 film with a canon EOS 3 and 600mm lens. The blue BG is the Pacific Ocean.
He is in the act of preening .I like the soft feel of this image. Did a noise reduction because of the grain in the film .Then did a slight sharpening.
I know it isn’t as sharp as I would like it to be .
Scanned on a Nikon IV scanner.
Sorry no stats.
C&C always welcomed

Wow, it's a wonderful portrait of a wonderful specimen. The pose is great too, but what really sets this apart here in my opinion is the very unusual colour palette. Blues and whites, how sweet!

Definitely has a dreamy feel. Love the whispy feathers and the graceful pose. IMO, it looks plenty sharp where it needs to be. :wavey:

Like the pose you captured and the white vs. blue, a little too soft, though.

Gorgeous Joe. The light is soft and the whites look great as well as the detail and bg. These are one of my favorites

Lovely shot. I like the feathers in the bill and you did a great job on the whites. Sharpness is more than acceptable for me. Sharon

I don't think could do any better for capture. Processing - Oh, I reckon one could show the white as whiter and keep those yellows yellowy, but those are all just processing things It's a nice photograph of a pretty bird, so what more can we ask?

Beautiful image, Joe. I think the sharpness at the head is more than acceptable. Maybe a tad more DOF will help - but that is a very minor nit. Thanks for sharing this. :toast:

This is really nice Joe. I love the comp and the bird's pose a lot. The main thing I see here is a need for whiter whites. They are just a bit too grey IMO. I try at reprocessing this image would be well worth the effort, again, IMO.

Looks great to me. Snowys are my favorite birds to shoot, and you got this one just right.
