I've been here so many times but this day the light was extraordinary. It had rained all night and the sandstone soaked in the water, allowing for a lot of even light. There was lots of wind & blowing sand in my face with some hail beginning to spit down when this was shot as well. I got a bit carried away and climbed down on the rock facing and need some help getting back up.... something I will never do again, but i got the perspective I wanted.(It's about 900' to the bottom!)
I am often so taken by the many great photographers here on NPN, and more so how you all push me to go the extra mile.
Thanks you all .... JG

That is a unique take on this spot, and you made the most of the even light. Great shot!

I cannot imagine the joy of seeing this in person. I have seen an image of it several times and never fail to be impressed by it. Yes, the lighting was perfect this day!

I always love to see images of this location. The light is perfect here, and your perilous perch makes for a great perspective. Also, the boat on the river provides some scale to the immense size.

Jack, this is a great take on this often shot locale. The idea of climbing down to get a better shot would scare me to death. The vertigo thing kicks in big time every time I've been to this site.

Super! You may have been here many times, but I've never seen this before. The tiny boat shows the scale - it's a long way down. You went the extra mile - I'd be uneasy at the edge.
