Great shot of htis elegant bird - it does look like it needs a minor counter-clockwise rotation though

I see what Luke means but I think that it is just that the bird is at a slight angle.
A great crest indeed. Good work on your trip!

Very nice shot Monica. I really like the nice light, and the coppery brown colors of this bird and the way they are complemented by the color of the water. One small criticism would be the stick in the water which does distract my eye a little bit but overall a very appealing shot.

I agree about trhe ccw rotation to level the water . Nice bird and water - too bad about that stick in the way.

Agreed, these are very beautifully colored birds! Terrific detail in the plumage. Agreed about the stick, but given the beauty of the bird, it doesn't compete for your attention that much.

Nice warm, rich colors in this. Maybe try a crop without the stick??? Sharon

The lighting and detail are gorgeous in the larger version Monica. I'm not too fond of the stick and I would consider cropping some from the bottom (although you would lose some of the reflection) and cloning out the remainder of it. :toast:

I like this a lot, and I also like Nate's suggestion.

Thanks to everyone for the kind and useful comments. I will try to turn slightly CCW the image and clone out the stick. Unfortunately the birds were visible only from a deck through a reed, so many good shots were disturbed by the reeds, but that is part of the game. Plus I was very pleased that day to meet a boy with his 70 300 that behaved in a way that made me imagine him as a future serious bird photographer and perhaps a future member of NPN. Also these things make beautiful to spend a day in the nature.
Thanks again.
Ciao

Very nice, Monica! Very sharp, great light and low angle. I also like the muted water colors. The stick is a distraction, but nothing you could have done about.

The colors and detail are great Monica. Wish the stupid stick wasn't there but I don't think I would clone it out either as it might mess up the great reflection.
