Rest

In my opinion, one of the greatest honors that a wild animal can bestow upon an annoying, always-watching, constantly-clicking human being like myself is relaxation in my presence. I've been capturing photos of this character for a couple of years now, but unless I'm by myself and moving very slowly and quietly in direct view, he still runs and hides when I'm near. It's times like these that make all the days of finding nothing worthwhile, and after a rough winter, I badly needed it - thanks buddy.

P.S. - Apologies for not providing larger versions of my shots here, hopefully the smaller versions provide enough for review...

Here's a link to a slightly larger, less compressed version...

Well said Guy, I know excatly what you mean and feel the same way; a big thank you to all co-operative wild animals! I like the super low angle here and the way he seems relaxed yet watching every move you make. If only the lighting were reversed, with the light striking what is now the shadow side this would have come out even better IMO.

I agree, doesn't get better then this kind of encounter and you have captured it.

Cool image! If you had just a little more of that nice side lighting to catch the hair on the backline it would be even stronger. I like the mood and your exposure looks excellent. I would consider a pano crop, removing some of the featureless sky, which IMO would emphasize the lying down posture.
