Our goldfinches are nearly in their full breeding plumage at this point. I like the spring colors in this, but I wish he was in front of the branch, instead of behind it, but...oh you all know how that goes! Cropped to 8x10 format.

50D, 500mm w/1.4, Iso 400, F 7.1, 1/100 LARGER VERSION posted, too.

A very nice comp Sharon. Your exposure looks good and the bird's head is nice and sharp. Great colors in this one. I too wish the bird was not behind the branch, but this is still a very pleasing image.

Very nice capture Sharon
Bg is great. Nice and sharp for only having a SS of 100. Excellent technique!!!! by the way
Don't mind the bird being behind the branch it happens and it looks natural. I love it on the red bud tree. You kinda beat me to this shot . I have a red bud tree in bloom and gold finches at my feeders .I was planning on moving the feeder closer to the tree see if I can get some shots. Now if I get results anything near what you got I will happy camper

great work getting the focus on the face and very sharp. I also like the light. As far as the branch, I don't really mind it cause it's real. I havnt seen any here yet.boo

sweet, Sharon--great colors and bg, just wish like you that he was in front of the branch, but still a very attractive shot.

Gorgeous color. The purples and greens compliment the bird wonderfully.

Beautiful Sharon. Were just getting ours and I haven't had a shot yet. Nice job on the composition, despite the perch crossing in front. :toast:

I like your composition with the vertical branch and the birds head in the clear and looking us. Also like the smooth background and purple floral accents.
