Black Skimmer

This is one of my favorite avian images that I've taken over the past few years. It was taken at dawn at Mustang Island State Park and the pastel skys reflected in the water made for some nice reflection shots.

Congrats to NPN for 10 years and thanks to Jim and Donna for starting NPN and providing such a great forum for all of us. I'm confident my photography wouldn't have progressed as it has without NPN.

Wonderful image! I've seen these skimmers skimming like this, but have never been quick enough to capture an image.
Like the colors and reflection, and love the water drops!

Great timing, Nate! Can easily see why this is a favorite. Would only wish for a hair more flying room at the RHS, but quite excellent as is.

This is a great photograph. I've been trying intermittently over the years to get a good photo of a skimmer skimming. They always seem to do it at dusk or dawn and disappear just as the light gets good. Look at that nice soft light under the wing. Perfect sharpness and absolutely no motion blur. Wonderful reflection. I'm so envious!
